Livestock Identification Process

  • County Fair Exhibitors will need to submit Livestock Identification affidavits to the local Extension Office by May 15, including Horses.
  • State Fair Exhibitors showing ANY and ALL Beef, Swine, Sheep, and Goats will need to complete an online nomination at https://showstockmgr.com/ by the June 15 deadline. Click here for detailed instructions.
  • DNA envelopes will need to be submitted to the local Extension Office by June 15 for the species listed above. 
  • Exhibitors will be required to complete Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) for the enrolled livestock projects any time prior to your event at County Fair, or by August 10 for State Fair.
  • Visible EID tags will be required for all the following animals showing at State Fair/AKSARBEN: Market Beef, Market Swine, Breeding Swine, Feeder Calves.
  • For any animal with an 840 EID tag, the owner will be required to obtain a Premise ID.
  • A tattoo will serve as the official identification for Registered Breeding Beef.
  • Commercial Breeding Beef may be identified with a tattoo OR EID tag.
  • Scrapie tags are required for the following: Market Lambs, Breeding Ewes, Market Goat, Breeding Goat.
  • Rabbits and Poultry are not required to be nominated; however, Rabbits will be required to have an ear tattoo for State Fair by August 10.
  • 4-H Bucket Calf and Dairy Goat projects do not have a class option at the Nebraska State Fair.
  • 4-H and FFA youth participants will declare in which youth organization they will show their animal projects by August 10 on the State Fair entry website.
