LOW-COST CLOTHES FOR THE JOB

Think about the kind of clothes you need to wear at work. First check your closet for the kind of clothes you could wear at work. If you need some more clothes, you can buy used clothes at different places in a community. Look in the yellow pages of the telephone book under used clothing, or second hand clothing or thrift or consignment shops. Other places include garage sales, discount stores, factory outlets and church rummage sales. Here are a list of places that sell used clothing.

Thrift Stores - Organizations such as Goodwill, Salvation Army, and Veteran's Thrift Stores sell donated used clothes at very low prices. You will need to look and see what they have to find the right clothes to fit your needs. The clothes are generally grouped by style. Some stores provide dressing rooms.
Garage Sales - Many clothes can be found for a low cost at garage sales. The selection may be limited, but good buys can be found. Check the garage sale listings in your local newspaper.
Consignment Shops - These stores offer clothes that are usually still in fashion. People who often clear their closets of certain clothing items, put them on consignment with the owner of the store. Prices may be higher than at second-hand stores.
Church Rummage Sales - Many churches hold sales in the spring and in the fall. These sales may offer a wide selection of good quality used clothes at very low prices.
Discount Stores, such as Factory Outlets, Off-price Chains Stores - Discount stores such as Wal- Mart, K-mart, and Target and warehouse clubs are other sources for reduced priced clothing. You need to shop with care to be sure you are getting the style, fit, color and price you can afford.

Tips

Buy clothes that fit your job. Check with your supervisor as to the type of clothes you should wear.
Look for clothing that can be worn for more than one season of the year.
Choose colors of clothing that are easy to mix and match with items you already have in your closet.
Make sure what you buy fits well. If it doesn't feel right or hang right on you, don't buy it.
You can change the trim on a garment to make it more to your liking. Try different buttons or replace a belt, etc.
Look for scarves and jewelry that can be used to update your outfit.
