Non-Line-of-Sight broadband wireless service comes to Nebraska
Kearney area and South Sioux City have access to new technology
Two companies have begun offering Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) broadband wireless service in Nebraska.
Gryphon Wireless has begun offering NLOS service in the Kearney area. Gryphon's coverage area extends 18 miles and includes Gibbon, Elm Creek, Axtell, Amherst, and Minden.
Evertek, an Everly, Iowa-based company, was the first service provider to successfully deploy NLOS broadband wireless services. Their coverage area extends into South Sioux City, Nebraska.
NLOS broadband wireless access services offer several advantages over other broadband wireless services. With NLOS service, hills, trees, and other obstacles do not interfere with service. Also, both Gryphon Wireless and Evertek use licensed spectrum which limits interference from other wireless operators.
