2017 South Central Livestock Judging Expo Results

Livesstock ExpoJune 3rd, 2017 – South Central Livestock Expo

The Webster County Junior Leaders once again held their annual South Central Livestock Expo. Thirty four exhibitors from Webster County and beyond brought their animals to Bladen for the event.

 The Expo started with breeding beef this year. Receiving first in class in the Crossbred Breeding Heifer in the Sept 2015 born class was Olivia Ord with her brother, Thomas Ord receiving second in the same class. Placing first in the Commercial Breeding Heifers in the March to April 2016 born class was Cassidy Frey with Cara Felber receiving second in class. Champion Commercial Breeding Heifer went to Cassidy Frey with her March to April 2016 born heifer and Olivia Ord receiving Reserve Champion Commercial Breeding Heifer with her September 2015 born heifer.

 Jaxon Snell received first in class in the Continental Breeding Heifer in the January 2016 born class and Cara Felber received top of class in the Continental Breeding Heifer in March 2016 born class. Jaxon won the Champion Continental Breeding heifer with his January born heifer and Cara Felber received Reserve Champion in the same division with her January 2016 born heifer.  

 Keaton Karr was awarded first in class in the British Breeds Breeding Heifer for the January to February 2016 class with MaKenna Karr receiving second spot in the same class. April 2016 born British Breeds Breeding Heifer first in class was given to Braedyn Snell. Keaton won the British Breeds Breeding Heifer division with his January 2016 born heifer with Braedyn receiving Reserve Champion with his April 2016 born heifer.

 The Overall Breeding Heifer was a tough call for our judge, Dylan Freeman from Wyoming. His selection for Overall Grand Champion Breeding Heifer was Jaxon Snell’s January 2016 born Continental Breeding Heifer. Overall Reserve Grand Champion Breeding Heifer went to Cassidy Frey’s March-April 2016 born Commercial Breeding Heifer.

 Beef Showmanship Champion was Dakota Lovett in the Senior Division. Dakota was awarded a stress lick tub from Purina/Kohmetscher Feed and a Leather Show Halter from Hidden Valley Angus. Abbey Vales receiving Reserve Champion and was given a Rope Halter provided by Hidden Valley Angus. Junior Beef Showmanship Champion was Jaxon Snell. Jaxon received Purina Honor Show Chow from Kohmetscher Feed & Purina and a leather show harness from 4M Angus. Erika Schwisow was awarded Reserve Champion Junior Beef Showman and was given a rope halter, provided by Hidden Valley Angus.

 Next was the market beef show. Jaxon Snell received Grand Champion Market Heifer with Erika Schwisow receiving Reserve Champion. Abbey Vales won the British Breeds market steer class with Dakota Lovett receiving second in class. Kacey Allen was awarded first in class in the Commercial Market Steer class with Abbey Vales receiving second in the same class. Champion Market Steer went to Kacey Allen with Abbey Vales receiving Reserve Champion, both with their commercial market steers.

 Jaxon Snell received Overall Grand Champion Market Beef with his market heifer while Kacey Allen received Overall Reserve Grand Champion Market Beef with her commercial market steer.

 The Expo continued with the Meat Goat Show. Receiving first in class in the Market Goats in the 40 pound range was Kaitlyn Thesenvitz with Alyssa Kerwood receiving second in class. Jaden Quinn received top goat in the 50 pound range in market goats with Jordan Wilbur receiving second in class. In the 60 pounds and above class, Camry Murdoch received first in class followed by Kaitlyn Thesenvitz. The two heavier class winners, Camry Murdoch & Kaitlyn Thesenvitz received Champion & Reserve Champion Market Meat Goat.

 Jordan Wilbur received Champion Senior Meat Goat Showman and was given a goat slinky cover and spray bottle provided by Hidden Valley Angus.  Alyssa Kerwood received Reserve Champion in the same class and was awarded a goat show chain. Kyle Rehak won the Junior Meat Goat Showmanship class followed by Creighton Small. Kyle also received a goat slinky cover and a spray bottle provided by Hidden Valley Angus; while Creighton received a goat show chain.

Breeding meat goat champion was Camry Murdoch with Jaden Quinn receiving reserve.

 Twenty five market lambs competed for top honors at the Expo. In the 70-85 pound class, Caleb Rehak placed first with Kyle Rehak placing second in class. Reid Richards topped the class of 90-97 pound market lambs with Eliza Hunzeker receiving second in class. In market lambs weighing 101-107 pounds Jaden Quinn came out on top with Reid Richards in second. Camry Murdoch won the 110-119 pound class with Jaden Quinn receiving second in class. Camry Murdoch also won the 120 pound plus with Jaden Quinn winning second in class.

 Those lambs that placed first or second in class came back for the Grand Champion Market Lamb competition. Receiving Grand Champion Market Lamb was Camry Murdoch with her 120 plus lamb and Jaden Quinn with his 101-107 pound lamb.

 Eliza Hunzeker received Champion Senior Sheep Showman with Caleb Rehak receiving Reserve in the same class. Eliza was awarded a poly rope halter for sheep and a feed scoop provided by Hidden Valley Angus; while Caleb received a Rope Halter for sheep. Junior Sheep Showman Champion went to Kyle Rehak. Kyle received a poly rope halter for sheep and a spray bottle provided by Hidden Valley Angus. Tyler Collins received Reserve Champion and was awarded a sheep rope halter.

 The last competition for the day was the Breeding Sheep Show. Jaden Quinn was awarded first in class in the breeding ewe lamb class with Reid Richards receiving second in class. Caleb Rehak accepted yearling ewe first in class. Grand Champion Breed Sheep was awarded to Caleb Rehak with his yearling ewe and Jaden Quinn received Reserve Champion Breeding Sheep with his ewe lamb.
