4-H'ers planning to exhibit a live animal or participate in an in-person contest at the Nebraska State Fair must register. This includes youth participating in any of the following shows or contests:

- Culinary Challenge Contest
- Dairy Judging Contest
- Dog Skillathon
- Fashion Show
- Horticulture ID Contest
- Insect ID Contest
- Premier Science Award
- Robotics Showcase
- Tree ID Contest
- Weed & Grass ID Contest
