Financial health check for farmers, ranchers

Workshop scheduled Feb. 28 at Sidney

Farmers and ranchers who are ready to renew their operating note can learn about preparing the information lenders need and how to develop a solid financial record keeping system at a Financial Health Check workshop scheduled for Feb. 28 at Sidney.

A Scottsbluff workshop planned for Feb. 16 has been canceled for lack of registrations.

The Sidney workshop will run from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the South Platte Natural Resources District Office Conference Room; to register call Karen DeBoer 308-254-4455

These workshop is designed to help farmers and ranchers develop a financial plan for their operation during this period of low income. Upon completion of this program, participants will have a better understanding of how financial records can be used to make management decisions and confidently discuss their financial position with their family, business partners, and lenders.

Topics covered include:

  • Basics of balance sheet construction and analysis
  • Cash flow and keeping farm-ranch financial records
  • Income statements for measuring profitability

The cost to attend is $20 per person. Workshops are limited to 20 participants.
