About the
Metro Extension District
The Metro Extension District is part of the University of Nebraska Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension. The six county district delivers research-based information from the University of Nebraska to urban audiences via Extension programs and connections. The Metro Extension District seeks to connect with people and communities in Nebraska’s most populated areas. We are providing meaningful, educational resources dealing with issues that are important to residents in urban areas, such as economic, environmental, health/nutrition, and social issues.

Food, Nutrition, and Health
The Food, Nutrition and Health program is focused on improving nutrition, physical activity, and food safety outcomes for Nebraskans. Extension is your connection to resources on food, fitness and recipes, food safety and preservation, local foods,the Nutrition Education Program, Food Allergy Research and Resource Program, Meat Products, the Food Processing Center, and more.

Working with Youth in the Metro Community
We are working with schools and making science fun. Nebraska 4-H Youth Development school enrichment programs are learning experiences delivered to youth in cooperation with public or private school during school hours in support of school curriculum.
