Central IV 4-H Lamb/Goat Tagging & Quality Assurance Training

County Fair only market and breeding animals are not required to come to tagging. Pick up ID sheets at the Nebraska Extension office or print an ID sheet from our website http://extension.unl.edu/statewide/central4/4hforms/ and record the scrapie tag number for each animal. The scrapie tag is sufficient identification for county fair animals. If you have a market wether that does not have a scrapie tag you can get a 4-H tag for it at the Extension office.

State Fair and/or AkSarBen market animals should come to lamb/goat tagging on May 17 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the Valley County fairgrounds, May 21 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the Greeley County Fairgrounds, May 23 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Sherman County Fairgounds or May 25 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Howard County Fairgounds. Animals will get EID ear tags and DNA samples will be taken. The cost is $6 per animal and a parent plus all exhibitors must sign the DNA envelope. An ID sheet will be completed at tagging. We will need your Premises ID number so please have it with you.

State Fair and/or AkSarBen breeding ewes and does must be registered via breeding nomination cards available at the Nebraska Extension office. The card must be signed by a parent and all exhibitors. You also need to complete and sign an ID sheet.

Quality Assurance training will be held immediately following taggings for anyone who needs it. All FFA and 4-H members are welcome to attend.
