2024 Tractor and Equipment Safety for Young and Beginning Farmers and Ranchers ages 14 and 15. The hands-on events and the online course will cover the required elements of the National Safe Tractor and Machinery Operation Program, including quizzes which students must pass to attend the driving portion of training. The onsite driving training and exam will include a driving test and equipment operation and ATV safety lessons. Students must demonstrate competence in hitching and unhitching equipment and driving a tractor and trailer through a standardized course. Instructors will also offer education about safe behaviors and laws for ATVs, utility-task vehicles (UTVs), and other off-road vehicles (ORVs).
Nebraska 4-H requires all youth enrolled in livestock projects to complete annual quality assurance certification through Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA). YQCA is a national multi-species quality assurance program focused on three core pillars: food safety, animal well-being, and character development. Data Driven: A Statistics & Data Science Field Day," scheduled for Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Dinsdale Learning Commons on East Campus at UNL from 10 AM to 4 PM. This engaging event invites teams of four 10th-12th graders (with the occasional exceptional 9th grader welcome) and one adult coach to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of data science, statistics, and numerical literacy. The day will feature interactive head-to-head competitions, providing a platform for teams to showcase their skills. Additionally, participants will have the valuable opportunity to interact with the University recruitment team and industry professionals.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Center for Agricultural Profitability will present workshops for those planning and involved in farmland succession who want to learn more about the best strategies for managing and owning this asset and how it may impact the transition plan. “So You’ve Inherited a Farm … Now What?” The workshops will cover Nebraska land industry topics for farms and ranches. Those include evaluating current trends in land values and cash rents, strategies for successful land transitions, lease provisions, legal considerations and managing communication and expectations among family members. Creating and adjusting estate plans will also be covered.

Registration for the Nebraska 4-H Summer Camp program is now open!

The summer 2024 theme is "The Power of Being Green".  Youth will get to explore and interact with their natural world in six different sessions.  Youth will learn how they can use their head, heart, hands, and health to make our natural world a better place for all.

The 2024 sessions offer tailored age cohorts, providing sessions for younger campers between the age of 8-10, and an older cohort for ages 10-14.
