Building Nebraska Families is an educational developmental program that helps families transition from welfare to work. This University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension program, funded by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, is one leg of the journey Employment First families travel as they assume work responsibilities. In this leg of the journey Building Nebraska Families provides support to at-risk families by promoting self-sufficiency through education. |
Goal:
Participants learn skills that help them successfully maintain their families as they assume work responsibilities.
Objectives:
Building Nebraska Families serves 23 counties and is currently located at five sites in Nebraska. Extension Educators in collaboration with other local entities will provide one-on-one or small group educational opportunities for participants.
Audience Targeted:
Participants are referred by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Employment First program.
The community through a community network model engages in a development
process to identify opportunities for program participants.
